VirusTotal is a great web application that can be used to analyze URLs, Files, Search hashes for known malware, and more. I use this tool a ton in my career and personally, to check URLs, Files, and Hashes. You can access the tool here: https://www.virustotal.com/

You can choose a file from your device to upload, VirusTotal will check that file against multiple antivirus engines. If the engines determine the file is malicious, you will get red information along with the vendor that identified the malware. View the example below of a malicious file:
